Design Lessons to Take Away From Interior Designer Beata Heuman

1. Don't take your home so seriously.

Because it’s a home, not a showroom. I love Beata’s ability to make any space feel playful. She never shies away from color, placing mix-matched objects together, painting a formal picture frame pink, and finding a place to use use quirky art and patterns.

2. Add SHAPES. And then more.

I find myself typically drawn to the same shapes, but after seeing Beata’s work and how she incorporates so many different shapes in everything from backsplashes and tile and lighting and furniture, I realized I needed to take more risks!

3. Sometimes you're only a light fixture away to a great room.

Lights can seriously transform a space, from the fixtures themselves and where you place them, to the overall lighting of a room. If you want to do one thing to upgrade your space, invest in lighting. I promise you!

4. Every room should sing.

This is Beata’s tagline and something that stuck with me. It’s such a great way to describe the feeling you get when you walk into a space that you just can’t get enough of and your mind is racing to take it all in. Those are the best spaces and the ones I endlessly try to dissect to figure out what exactly is happening and why I love it so much.
